Genth, Mallen Named EAST-COMM April Athletes of the Month

EAST-COMM announced its Athletes of the Month for the month of April on Friday afternoon. Harry Genth of Haverford Baseball and Samantha Mallen of Ursinus Softball took the awards in the final vote for the 2024-25 school year.
 
 
EAST-COMM recognizes one male and female student-athlete from its member schools every month. Sports Information Directors of EAST-COMM member schools were able to nominate one male and female student-athletes from their respective institutions following outstanding athletic performances in the month of April.
 
 
Genth put together one of the most dominant offensive months in the in Division III Baseball. The senior second baseman leads all of Division III in home runs (21), home runs per game (0.60), RBI (73), RBI per game (2.09), runs per game (1.80), and total bases (139), and ranks second nationally in total runs scored (63). In April alone, Genth batted .500 over 16 games with 29 hits in 58 at-bats. He posted a 1.345 slugging percentage and a .628 on-base percentage, hitting 13 home runs, eight doubles, and a triple. He scored 37 runs, drove in 39, walked 12 times, was hit by eight pitches, and stole 14 bases without being caught. His highlight performances included a 5-RBI, 3-hit outing against Muhlenberg and multi-homer games against current-No. 1 Johns Hopkins and Ursinus. Defensively, he remained steady at second base, recording 34 putouts and 21 assists with just two errors.
 
 
Mallen became the first Ursinus softball player to reach the 200-career hit mark while becoming the Ursinus all-time hits and runs scored leader during the month of April. She also retook the single season Centennial Conference stolen base record and became the Conference's all-time leader in stolen bases. Mallen helped lead the team into a postseason berth by going 27-of-55 (.491) with 18 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, and three RBI in 16 games during the month of April. Her play in the month of April helped solidify Centennial Conference Player of the Year and All-Centennial first team honors.
